A-frame in the woods

$150.00
Sold Out

Original cyanotype on fabric with hand embroidery. Mounted in a metal Altoids tin.  Can be displayed on a shelf (as pictured).  Metal tin opens and closes.

All of my gnome / fairy houses start out as a cyanotype of a piece of river glass. I make a sunprint of hand pressed flowers and mosses, photos of the moon and a piece of river glass. I collect pieces of glass that remind me of a little tiny cottage and then I hand stitch it to bring my vision to life. Each one is unique. (Scroll through photos for some additional images)

.

About cyanotype:

A cyanotype (sun-print) is light sensitive photographic print that dates back to the 1840’s. I create my art by painting a light sensitive solution onto solid wood, paper or fabric. The surface is covered with ethically collected organic materials that I have found or pressed. I then expose the surface to sunlight. Whatever is on the surface, plants or a negative, blocks the light and the remaining surface that is exposed to sunlight will be chemically altered. Finally, it is washed with water which rinses off the remaining chemicals and results in a deep Prussian blue color.
