A little piece of your story, typed onto a real leaf.

For The Typewritten Leaf, I use a vintage typewriter to hand-type your words directly onto a real, naturally fallen ginkgo leaf.
Each leaf is unique. Each letter is typed individually. And because there is no backspace on a vintage typewriter, every piece carries the beautiful imperfections of being made entirely by hand.
Your leaf is carefully dried and preserved. You can choose to have it presented simply in its handmade white oak floating frame, or incorporated into an original cyanotype composition.
The result is a completely one-of-a-kind piece of art made specifically for you.

What can I type?
Whatever feels meaningful to you.
Names and dates are beautiful, but you're not limited to them. You might choose a favorite quote, a line from a song or poem, a wedding vow, a child's name, coordinates, or a few words that mean something only to the two of you.
I'll work with you to create a composition that feels intentional and beautiful.
Because each letter is typed individually onto a delicate leaf, the amount of text is limited by the size and shape of the leaf. For the best result, I recommend keeping your message to approximately 1–3 short lines. If you have something longer in mind, send me a message before ordering and we’ll figure out the best approach.

Frame size will generally be approximately 8 × 8" to 10 × 10", depending on the composition.

Your piece will not look exactly like the photographs shown here — and that's part of the beauty.
Leaves vary naturally in shape, size, color and character. The typewriter has its own personality, too. Small variations, imperfect letter impressions and the individual shape of your leaf are all part of what makes your artwork truly one of a kind.
